In two groups, the students were then guided through the factory hall by Hainer Völler (process engineer) and Markus Gries (production manager). There the students were able to follow the production process step by step. Individual steps in the production of the saw blades were demonstrated by experts. Finally, the visitors had the opportunity to talk to the company representatives during a question and answer session and to clarify further questions.
Students visit TKM
Another destination for the students during the Excursion weeks 2016 was the Remscheid-based company TKM on 12.05.2016. This time the group of students was accompanied by Klaus Appelt (Innovation and Environment Department of the Chamber of Industry and Commerce), Andrea Bauhus (Career Service) and Katharina Niepieklo (Science Transfer Office). The students were welcomed by the managing director and IHK president Thomas Meyer, who gave an overview of the products and related industries at the beginning. The focus of TKM lies in a constant exchange between the customers and the company, which among other things characterizes the success of the saw blade manufacturer. Thomas Meyer then spoke about the changes in the industry and outlined various future prospects and career opportunities for students in his company.
