Students visit Knipex
On 19.04.2016, around 30 students from the University of Wuppertal were guests at the Knipex plant on Oberkamperstraße. The event took place within the Excursion weeks 2016.
After a welcoming speech by Sonja Clemens, consultant for personnel development and marketing, Stefanie Hilbrich, consultant for recruitment, presented the family-run company and its development - from its foundation by Carl Gustav Putsch in 1882 until today - to the students.
In the following practical presentation by Dr. Michael Nahr, Team Leader Factory and Technology Planning, the students were introduced to the technical features of the Knipex pliers and their production process.
Dr. Carsten Winkler, Commercial Director, joined us to introduce the commercial departments of the company. The presentations were followed by a tour of the factory halls, during which the students were able to experience the production process at all stages - from the raw material in the warehouse to the finished pliers.
The event took place within the framework of the Excursion weeks 2016. With the objective to enable students to inform themselves about career opportunities in companies in the Bergische region, the University of Wuppertal together with the Chamber of Industry and Commerce Wuppertal-Solingen-Remscheid (IHK) is again offering excursion weeks this year. Eleven companies from the region will be opening their doors to interested students of all disciplines from 14 April to 25 May.
