The event took place within the framework of the Excursion weeks 2016. With the objective to enable students to inform themselves about career opportunities in companies in the Bergische region, the Bergische Universität Wuppertal together with the Chamber of Industry and Commerce Wuppertal-Solingen-Remscheid (IHK) is again offering excursion weeks this year. Eleven companies from the region will be opening their doors to interested students of all disciplines from 14 April to 25 May.
In the further run of the excursion, plant manager Peter Hübner guided a group of students through the production part of the company, where they got an insight into the production of the saws and had the possibility to follow the process of the development step by step. The second group of students, led by Jörg Blecher and Olaf Lenhard (master craftsmen in the production of HM circular saw blades), had a look at the fine grinding and completion of the saws in the company's other plant. Various further processing steps were demonstrated.
The students made intensive use of the opportunity to ask questions during the entire tour. They got an impression of the competitive pressure in the industry and learned how August Blecher KG differs from other companies with its products.
At the end of the excursion an interesting exchange about application possibilities followed.
Students visit August Blecher KG
On 21.04.2016, students of the University of Wuppertal were guests at August Blecher KG in Remscheid. They were accompanied by Andrea Bauhus (Career Service of the University), Julia Lohre (Department of Innovation and Environment of the Chamber of Industry and Commerce Wuppertal-Solingen-Remscheid) and Dr. Peter Jonk (Transfer Office of the University).
The Director of company Henner Blecher welcomed the guests and gave them an introduction to the company and the development and history of saw production. Junior manager Jörg Blecher then spoke about the future perspectives for students at the company.
